Fortnite Review

 Every so often a game emerges that surpasses all anticipations, becoming ingrained in popular culture and engulfing fans throughout the globe. One of those experiences is Fortnite. Epic Games is leading the way in a time that promises to completely alter what it means to be a live-service game, offering two very different game modes, an abundance of llamas, and infinite replayability. Both modes are fun to play alone, but they're even more fun with friends.

In the cooperative Save the World game mode, players are tasked with using building, blasting, and traps to defend a variety of sites and structures. Numerous husk (zombie) adversaries are constantly appearing and attempting to breach your defenses, but a vast arsenal of weapons and astute crafting can come to your rescue. With many of the hooks centered around a vast skill tree, cracking open llamas to reveal new characters and weapon recipes, and gathering resources, Save the World is entertaining but ultimately monotonous. At first, the infinite number of enemies and the drip unlock method are alluring, but they might eventually feel tedious and unfulfilling.

Every stage has an enjoyable basic idea: construct a massive base out of unprocessed materials, Home Alone the heck out of it with traps, then take a seat and blast away at the relentless swarm. Save the World mode may be ideal for you if you can handle horde modes and home defense, especially if you'd prefer to play with other players than against them. You are free to pick how involved you want to be with the awful tide; you can choose to take on easier tasks or challenge yourself against some heavier husks, depending on how you are feeling.

The sub-modes of Fortnite Battle Royale are the true stars of the show. The main idea is quite easy to grasp and has a lot of repeat value. As you jump off of the party bus, you run off quickly, race against other players to grab a weapon first, and eliminate the early opposition before they have a chance to eliminate you. Since there is no way to resurrect after dying, it's game over. Nevertheless, if you lose, you can start a new match right away, which significantly lessens the pain of losing.

If you make it through the sneaky first few minutes, you'll be tasked with traveling from landmark to landmark in search of weapons, shields, and healing supplies to get you to the next encounter. As the storm presses players closer together, the walls start to close in, gradually shrinking the playing area and requiring action. Sometimes the best play is to tidy the house after everyone has fought it out while you hide behind a bush. The energy of every game carries over to the next round, time and time again. You might get a great triumph high for being the last person standing, or you can get sent unceremoniously packing by a staircase-jumping tactical shotgun to the face.

One of Fortnite Battle Royale's best features is how replayable it is. There's only one map, but no game ever proceeds exactly the same way twice. You still know what you need to know about geography, weapon functionality, and chest spawning, but how these elements come together is always new. Perhaps you land in the center of a house with ten other players, and you have to choose whether to book it to the next region or not. You take on Rambo, expecting to win as the only person alive after a bloody brawl. Perhaps you start off with an excellent weapon but end up in the middle of a sniper duel. Similar to League of Legends or Dota 2, one main playspace is more than sufficient due to the remaining factors.

Bring a team and play in squads to experience new tactics and thrills, like building walls around downed enemies or allies to prevent others from reaching them. Fortnite continually adds new features and updates its map, which makes it a winning recipe that is rooted in core gameplay aspects but always adds new quirks and perks. Examples of these updates include the addition of a thermal scope, a ridable golf cart, and the ability to turn a swamp into a desert.

Not just new gadgets and weaponry, but even map locations are constantly changing. If you're getting tired of the same old brawl, you can always try out a new limited-time event, like a 50v50 all-out war mode or an actual fight against Thanos from the Marvel universe. These alternate modes serve as a palate cleanser and diversions, providing you with something to do with a new playgroup or just for fun, following a discouraging loss. Although Fortnite is always changing, its strong foundation has allowed it to become a recognized sensation with quick, entertaining gameplay and a wide audience. While Save the World and shotgun climb-and-dives may get a bit repetitive, there is true magic in this game, and there will undoubtedly be more in the months and years to come. Anyone can play it and have a great time.
